The real experience of being rescued from a fall while climbing a mountain

Climbing on Dazhu Mountain in Qingdao on the weekend, the eldest brother lost his balance because of taking pictures and jumped off a stone about 50 cm,sports fitness .

Fracture of the back of the foot. Due to lack of experience, I finally got to the gate of the scenic spot at 23:30. Share the journey here,

First of all, I would like to thank the big guys in the Qingdao Outdoor Group for their help. When they encountered danger on Saturday, they provided the blue sky rescue team in time.

Due to issues such as personal privacy, details such as routes and personnel will not be discussed in detail.

Here I will only talk about some of my personal insights on this dangerous situation, and share and learn with you.

Distress handling perception:

1. Before the rescue, you must communicate clearly, understand the equipment of the other party, and the number of police officers. At the same time, let the other party know where you are, and confirm with the other party whether they understand it.

For example, I provided the [two-step road] APP map and GPS positioning, and the pictures provided were not useful at all because of the orientation problem.

But after chatting, I learned that only one of them has downloaded [Two-step Road], but he can't use the APP to locate and find the way.

There is no GPS locator, nor does AutoNavi download offline maps, so it is impossible to locate and view routes in the mountains.

Due to signal problems, even the lines in the scenic spot cannot be displayed.

2. Tell the other party's injury in detail, and ask the rescue team for the other party's advice, whether to wait in place or save yourself first.

When we communicated, we provided pictures of the injury and told us that we were sad, but we did not ask the rescue team for advice and waited until it was dark. This is also a big mistake.

3. If you can save yourself, try to save yourself first, and if you can move, go down to the road. Get more rescue time.

When it was dark, the wind was strong and the temperature dropped. Fortunately, we have prepared clothes and spare raincoats. Food and drinking water are sufficient.

Because before rescue is a long waiting process. After dark, it will increase the difficulty of rescue, and walking on the wild road will also increase the difficulty;

4. In case of distress, if there is currently available help, ask for help as much as possible, instead of waiting for the rescue team behind;

After the distress situation, we had a team of friends, but because of my misjudgment, I didn't ask them to help them to descend together, so the rescue later took longer.

more difficult. (I also saw another young man on the opposite top of the mountain, and did not ask for help)

5. If the road ahead is unfamiliar or unclear, the return route is the best route;

Because I saw that I only need to cross a stone crack to reach the opposite top of the mountain, and the opposite top of the mountain is open. At first, I planned to descend from the opposite top of the mountain, but because I have not walked, the route is unknown.

The rescue team searched for more than half an hour but could not find the way. It was not easy for a rescue team to come up behind, so they changed to the original way to descend.

(During the descent from the original route, it is also necessary to drill a hole, and in some cases, it is necessary to find another route, which is also difficult for the wounded.)

6. When waiting for rescue, it is best to be able to move to an open field of vision. Easy to connect with rescuers

At first I could see the rescuers, but they just didn't see me. Although it wasn't dark at the time, it might be that I was under the cracks on the west side of the rock. There was some backlight and it was difficult to find me.

Finally, I thought of the method of using a flashlight to confirm my specific location;

7. The rope, flashlight/charging dual-use, Swiss army dao, and disposable raincoat (insulation) played a big role. At the same time, the team also provided a spare medicine box.

The rope was used to tie the wounded down, and the Swiss Army cut the rope and sprayed the wound surface with Yunnan Baiyao. Because there is no bleeding or anything, bandages, gauze, etc. are useless.

timeline:

15:30: Distress situation,

17:30: The rescue team picked up the person,

20:30: Descend to Scenic Road.

23:30: The gate of the scenic spot.

00:30: Hospital emergency department

It took more than 2 hours to descend from the top of the mountain to the main road. At the end, when descending, the person was tied with a rope, and the person behind him pulled him and sat down a little bit. The person in front responded, because it was already dark at this time, which was the most difficult part.

It took more than 3 hours for the scenic spot to descend to the gate. Several young men in the rescue team were tired, and the 150g wounded came in rotation with 6 people: people on their backs, jumping on one foot with assistance, and two people walking on stretchers.

The next morning, my eldest brother sent a message saying that the doctor had confirmed the diagnosis: the heel was fractured, and the operation was performed at noon. It is also a blessing. I wish my brother a speedy recovery.

I would like to thank the Huangdao Blue Sky Rescue Team, the Huangdao Police, and the friendly teams for their help again.
