Baja California Sur, or Baja California Sur for short, is located in the southern half of the California Peninsula, bordering the Gulf of California to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. Surrounded by the sea on three sides, it has nearly 2,200 kilometers of coastline. The land area is 73,677 square kilometers, of which 70% are mountains and deserts, making it the ninth largest state in Mexico. Rivers are scarce. Many small islands along the coast. With a population of nearly 600,000, it is the state with the lowest population density in Mexico. [1]

A region was established in 1931 and changed to a state in 1974.


The most important economic sector is fishery. The coast is rich in seafood such as prawns, sardines, white tuna, abalone and clams, and it is the second largest export state of Mexican seafood. However, the breeding, production, storage, packaging, transportation and processing of fisheries are still in the downstream stage. The main agricultural and livestock products are cotton, olives, grapes, cattle and sheep breeding and so on. The state's Guerrero Negro region is home to the second largest saltworks in the world.

From October 26 to 27, 2002, the APEC and G20 summit meetings were held in the beautiful Los Cabos, which greatly increased the popularity of this area and attracted more and more Chinese to travel here.


The tourism industry is developed, especially the marine tourism resources (coasts and islands) diversity ecotourism is very rich, and it has strong competitiveness in the demand of international tourism.
