El Chaten, Argentina
El Chalten offers the best hiking and scenery in Patagonia. While it's not cheap, it can be the trip of a lifetime. Located at the base of Mount Fitz Roy, it has a rich climbing heritage with trails leading right into town. The most popular activity is hiking the Laguna de Los Tres trail, although horseback riding is also the most popular. After that, there are independent breweries, bars and restaurants where craft beers can be enjoyed. You won't want to miss the chance to share a Parilla, a traditional Argentinian barbecue that is popular with almost everyone, sports fitness .
There is such a place in the vast Patagonia region of southern Argentina, which is surrounded by mysterious mountains and magnificent glaciers. This is Argentina's famous Chaltén National Park (Parquet Nacional de El Chaltén). It is affiliated to the Argentine Glacier National Park and covers an area of 135 hectares. It was officially established in 1985 and receives an average of 10,000 tourists a year, most of which are European tourists. In view of the beautiful natural scenery and diverse topographic features of the Chaltén area, the Argentine government officially listed it as the "Argentine Outdoor Sports Capital" in 1993.
When travel in South America gradually became popular, Argentina ranked among the top three preferred destinations for Chinese people in South America with its strong own advantages. It's a bit of a pity that the world-class beauty of Chalten National Park is forgotten by so many people as tourists hurry past the Moreno Glacier. Therefore, today, Rhodes deliberately dug out the photos at the bottom of the backlog box for many years, and introduced the charming Chalteng National Park to all friends who love to travel and are curious about the world.
Compared with the Torres del Paine National Park in Chile, which is also in the Patagonia region, the Chalten National Park is relatively small in size, but has relatively better hiking and camping conditions and less difficult outdoor activities. Starting from the town of Chalten, there are three routes into the mountain as shown in the picture:
1 regular route
Start from the town of Chalten and enter the mountain, pass Laguna Capri, arrive at Poincenot Camp, and go to Laguna Los Tres to enjoy the view of Fitz Roy. . The line shown is: 1-A-B-M-A-B-M-D-C. The route from Chalten to Lake Capri will pass through the Valle de los Ríos de la Vuelta, a vantage point for a panoramic view of the valley of the Chalten region, but because of its gap, it is also It is windy all year round, so please be careful when passing by. This section of the mountain road is in good condition, but the slope is very large and it takes a lot of physical strength. Based on this consideration, Rhodes suggested another route from the back mountain to the mountain.
2 Back Mountain Route
Starting from the town of Chalten, take a taxi via the pink route No. 4 to the Pilar Hotel (picture 5). From here, you can enter the mountain along the Rio Blanco. The slope is small and it is more labor-saving. From the Pilar Hotel all the way up the mountain, walking through the dense forest, you can also admire the Glaciar Piedras Blancas up close along the way, and you can reach the Poincent Camp in about 3 hours. From the Poincenot camp to the top to enjoy the view of Mount Fitzroy, after going down the mountain, you can go down the mountain via Capri Lake, the route is: 5-M-D-C-D-M-B-W-A-M-B-A-1; in addition, you can also go to Lago Torre for camping, the route is: 5-M-D-C-D-M-B-W-W-F-H-F-W-2.
3 Torre Lake Direct Route
Starting from the town of Chalten, enter the mountain from the No. 2 entrance as shown in the figure, and you can go directly to Lake Torre. After the visit, you can choose to descend the mountain or head to Fitzroy Peak. The hiking routes in the whole park are clearly marked and the road conditions are good. Tourists can flexibly design and adjust the routes according to the actual situation.
Arrival method
From the main cities of Argentina, you can fly to El Calafate, then take a bus from the airport to the small town of El Chaltén. The journey takes 3 hours, and the one-way fare is about 300 pesos (about 20 US dollars). The bus from Calafate to Chalten operates year-round, with three departures a day at 07:00, 08:00 and 18:00; there are also three return buses at 08:00, 10:30 and 18:00: 00.
travel season
At present, the Chalten National Park has not yet collected tickets, and it is extremely convenient for tourists to enter and leave the tour. Although it can be visited all year round, the mountains are covered by heavy snow in winter and the temperature is very low. Even if the scenery of "thousands of miles of ice and thousands of miles of snow drifts" is spectacular, winter (June-September) is still the off-season for tourism in Chaerten. In addition, spring (October-November), summer (December-February) and autumn (March-May) can be said to be the peak seasons for travel, with summer being the most popular. But in terms of scenery, I prefer spring and autumn, because the colors in the mountains are more colorful and diverse at this time.
If Argentina is your next travel destination, is Chalten already on your Must Do List?
Yangyang's Words Chaerten is the place where Yangyang walked for the first time. Although he didn't have time to set up camp in the mountains like the great walking god Rhodes shoes, he also left an extremely unforgettable memory. It was the first day of the new year. Yangyang and two friends got up early in the morning, hungry, and went all the way through the wind and rain. They finally arrived at Capri Lake, but they were almost desperate. Snow-capped mountains, but in front of them there is only chaos shrouded in clouds. At that time, I often traveled with a somewhat paranoid mood, as if using the wind and sunshine on the road to make up for the unhappiness of daily life. At the moment of disappointment, I thought, maybe the effort may not be rewarded, and maybe the expectations at the beginning were unrealistic. While thinking about it, the dark clouds were blown open, the sun was shining, and a gorgeous rainbow rose up on the lake! When I think about the scene now, I am still very shocked and moved. Since then, I no longer dwell on uncontrollable disappointments, but learn to go with the flow and try my best to turn surprises into surprises with an optimistic attitude. I think, I finally found freedom in travel.
