Kanas Scenic Spot, located in the middle of the Altai Mountains in Xinjiang, is located in the border zone between China and Kazakhstan, Russia and Mongolia, with an area of 10030 square kilometers, sports fitness .
The core essence of Kanas National Scenic Area is the intense erosion of glaciers. The surface of ice and stone blocks the valley, forming a lake from the end ridge. The lake is 1375 meters above sea level. The lake is like a crescent moon, with a length of 24.5 kilometers, an average width of 1.9 kilometers, an average depth of 90 meters, a maximum depth of 188.4 meters, an area of 69000 mu, and a storage capacity of 4 billion cubic meters. It is one of China's deepwater lakes.
There are 55 large and small scenic spots in Kanas Scenic Area, belonging to 33 basic types, mainly including eight famous natural landscape areas and three cultural landscape areas at home and abroad, including Hanas National Nature Reserve, Kanas National Geopark, Baihaba National Forest Park, Jadengyu National Forest Park, Kanas Valley, Hemu Valley, Naren Grassland, Hemu Grassland and Hemu Village, Baihaba Village, Kanas Village.
The main scenic spots of Kanas Scenic Spot include Kanas Lake, Wolong Bay, and the Taikalin Corridor. On April 13, 2018, it was shortlisted for "100 Wonderful Northwest Scenes". In 2021, it will be selected into the first batch of important wetlands in the autonomous region.

Above 3000 meters above the sea level, it is the alpine ice and snow frozen zone covered by modern glaciers and permanent snow cover, the periglacial subalpine frozen tundra cushion meadow zone at 2400-3000 meters above the sea level, and the mid-mountain cold-temperature coniferous forest steppe zone at 1300-2400 meters above the sea level (composed of coniferous species Siberian larch, Siberian fir, Siberian spruce, and Siberian Korean pine) At an altitude of 800-1500 meters, it is a low-mountain hilly shrub meadow grassland zone, and below 800 meters, it is a piedmont alluvial plain oasis desert zone, with obvious vertical stratification, and the true view of 6-7 vertical natural landscape zones of Altai Mountain.

Due to its location in the hinterland of Eurasia, far from the sea, high latitude, wide relative height difference, and complex terrain, it has formed unique climatic characteristics. The annual average temperature here is - 0.2 ℃, the extreme maximum temperature is 29.3 ℃, and the minimum temperature is - 37 ℃. The monthly average temperature of six months of the year is lower than 0 ℃, and the winter is as long as seven months. The average temperature in the coldest January is - 16 ℃, the average temperature in the hottest July is 15.9 ℃, and the average temperature at noon is only 20 ℃. The frost-free period is 80-108 days, and the plant growth period is concentrated from May to August. The annual precipitation is about 1000 mm, and the maximum precipitation zone is 2100 meters above sea level. Winter is long, with abundant snowfall. Generally, frost begins at the beginning of August. Above 1400 meters above sea level, snow began to fall in late August; At an altitude of more than 3000 meters, it began to snow in early August, and until late May or early June of the next year, the snowfall period reached about 8 months, the snow depth reached 1-2 meters, the number of snowfall days was generally more than 73 days, and the stable snow period was about 200 days. The snow line is distributed at an altitude of 2850 meters. The annual evaporation is about 1000 mm, roughly equal to the precipitation. Kanas Nature Reserve has good water conditions and high air humidity. The relative humidity is generally 59% - 90%. The humidity increases with the elevation, and the humidity in the forest can generally reach more than 90%.
