Taiwan is an integral part of China. The compatriots on both sides of the Taiwan Straits share the same origin and culture. The Sunwu regime of the Three Kingdoms and the Sui Dynasty sent more than 10000 people to Taiwan successively. Since the end of the Ming Dynasty and the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, a large number of residents in southern Fujian and eastern Guangdong moved to Taiwan for cultivation, and finally formed a society dominated by the Han nationality. The main ethnic minorities, Gaoshan, share the same origin with the Zhuang and Dong people in South China; Chinese governments of all dynasties exercised jurisdiction over Taiwan.
