Islands and sandbars

There are several small islands and sandbars off the coast of Dominica, with the largest two being Saona Island in the southeast and Beiata Island in the southwest. There are three relatively large sandbars located 100 kilometers and 200 kilometers offshore in the north, mainly extending from the northern Bahamas, known as Christmas sandbars, Silver sandbars, and Mouchoir sandbars. The first two are owned by Dominican sovereignty.

Climatic characteristics
The north and east of Dominica belong to Tropical rainforest climate, and the southwest belongs to tropical grassland climate, with an annual average temperature of 25-30 ℃.
Dominica is located at 17 ° 36 ′~19 ° 56 ′ north latitude south of the Tropic of Cancer. The annual temperature changes little, but the temperature in the Central Cordillera Mountains is low, reaching below 0 ℃ in winter.
May November is the rainy season every year, and June November is the hurricane season. Many countries are surrounded by the sea on three sides and lack natural barriers. In summer and autumn, they are often hit by hurricanes. In addition, the domestic infrastructure is not perfect, and encountering hurricane landfall or a large amount of rain often causes floods and landslides in various regions.
The average annual rainfall in Dominica is 1346 millimeters. Due to the influence of mountain terrain, rainfall is mainly concentrated in the northern and eastern regions of many countries. The north and east face the northeast trade wind, with an annual precipitation of 1500-2500 mm, belonging to the Tropical marine climate. The mountain forest is dense, and the southwest of leeward has an annual precipitation of 500-1000 mm, with a long dry season, belonging to the tropical grassland climate. The annual average temperature in many countries ranges from 25 degrees Celsius (coastal areas) to 21 degrees Celsius (mountainous areas).
Water system distribution
The Dominican River is short and turbulent, mainly flowing through the North Yak River in the Sihuao Valley and the Yuna River in the northeastern Baigarea Plain, both of which benefit from irrigation and power generation. The river basin is widely distributed, including four major river systems. Yaque del Norte (North Yagai River), developed from the Central Mountain Range, is the main and longest river in Dominica. The North Yagai River irrigates the fertile Cibao Valley, and finally comes out to sea from the northwest Montecristo Bay. The Yuna River, which extends from the east of the Central Mountain Range, flows through the Vega Real (Royal Grassland) in the east and into the Saman á Bay in the northeast. Yaque del Sur (South Asia Gai River) in the south of Central Mountain Range flows southward to irrigate the Holy Lake Angus, and finally flows to the Caribbean Sea. The Artibonito River (320 km long) originates from the Central Mountain Range and flows westward. Although it is the longest river on the island, the Artibonito River mainly flows through the area in Haiti, which is the most important river in Haiti. The largest lake in Dominica is Enriquillo Lake (300 Square kilometre), which is located in the southwest of many countries. Its location is 40 meters below the sea level. The climate is dry and it is a Salt lake. There are also multiple lagoons along the coast.

mineral resources
Dominica has abundant underground mineral resources, including gold, silver, nickel, iron, copper, bauxite, amber, marble, gypsum, and granite with mining value. Dominican copper reserves are approximately 650 million pounds, gold reserves are approximately 26.6 million ounces, marble reserves are approximately 300 million cubic meters, and gypsum reserves are approximately 800 million tons. The Sihuao Valley is the most developed mining area in Dominica, rich in nickel iron ore and the largest open-pit gold mine in the Americas. The brown coal deposited on the Sanchez Samana Peninsula is an important fuel energy source in the area. Dominica exports salt, gemstones, gypsum, and marble.
