geological structure

There are many stratigraphic sequences in Tangshan City, with the Archean and Proterozoic mainly exposed in the northern mountainous areas; The Cambrian and Ordovician systems are mainly distributed on the two wings of the Kaiping syncline; The majority of the Carboniferous and Permian strata are hidden in the southern plain area; A small amount of Jurassic is exposed in the Lianhuayuan and Guantou Mountain areas of Qian'an County; The third series is found in the Xinzhuang Yinzhuang area south of Qianxi County and is deeply buried in the area south of the Xugezhuang Luannan County Changning line in Fengnan District; The Quaternary system is highly developed, with a distribution area accounting for about 3/5 of the total area of the city, forming a vast sloping plain in front of the mountains.

In terms of geological structure, the jurisdiction is located at the junction of the southern edge of the eastern section of the Yanshan wrinkled belt on the Sino Korean quasi platform and the Huanghua Depression in the North China Depression. From the perspective of geomechanics, it belongs to the intersection of the latitudinal structural system, the New Huaxia structural system, and the eastern wing reflection arc of the Qilu Heshan shaped structure, and the structural state is quite complex. The Yanshan Movement shaped the main structural framework of the jurisdiction. After experiencing strong tectonic differentiation during the Himalayan Movement, since the Late Tertiary, the inheritance in the north has increased while that in the south has decreased. Along with the rise and fall of the north-south difference, many Cenozoic faults have developed in the entire region, with the majority of them being high angle normal faults in the coverage area. Such as the Hugezhuang Fault, which was active in the Early Tertiary and relatively stable since the Late Tertiary, the Hanjiazhuang South Fault, which was inherited from the Late Tertiary and Quaternary, as well as the Hanjiazhuang Shaheyi Fault, Douhe Fault, and others with good Quaternary
