Socialist Republic of Vietnam ĩ A Vi ệ t Nam, English: Socialist Republic of Vietnam, or Vietnam for short, is a socialist country in Asia. Located at the southeast end of the Indo-China Peninsula in Southeast Asia, surrounded by the sea on three sides, the terrain is narrow and long, slightly S-shaped, bordering Guangxi and Yunnan of China in the north, Laos and Cambodia in the west, with a narrow and long land area of about 330000 square kilometers, close to the South China Sea, with a coastline of more than 3260 kilometers. It is a multi-ethnic country dominated by the Jing nationality, with a population of 98.26 million (2021). The country is divided into 58 provinces and 5 municipalities directly under the Central Government，sports fitness .
In 968, it became an independent feudal country. It became a French protectorate in 1884. On September 2, 1945, it declared independence and established the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. In September of the same year, France invaded Vietnam again, and Vietnam carried out a hard war against France. In July 1954, the Geneva Agreement on the restoration of peace in **, India, was signed, and the northern part of Vietnam was liberated, while the southern part of Vietnam was still ruled by France (later the South Vietnamese regime supported by the United States was established).
Vietnam began the War of Resistance against the United States and Salvation of the Nation in 1961. In January 1973, Vietnam and the United States signed an agreement on ending the Vietnam War and restoring peace in Paris, and the United States began to withdraw from the south. In May 1975, the South was completely liberated. In April 1976, a unified parliament was elected. In July, the country was declared unified and named the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
The reform and opening up began in 1986, and the establishment of a socialist market economic system was determined at the 9th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam in 2001. The Communist Party of Vietnam is the only ruling party in the country. Vietnam is a member of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Organization and the World Trade Organization. It is a founding member of the Asia-Europe Meeting and one of the 11 countries in the future. In 2021, its GDP will reach 350 billion US dollars, its per capita GDP will reach 3680 US dollars, and its GDP growth rate will be 2.58%.
