The Republic of San Marino (Italian: Republica di San Marino; English: The Republic of San Marino), abbreviated as "San Marino", is one of the most compact countries in the world, located in the northeast of the Apennine Peninsula in Europe as a landlocked country, 23 kilometers from the Adriatic Sea. The land area is 61.16 square kilometers. It borders on Italy all around.
