Azerbaijani ethnic group

Azerbaijani (Azerbaijani: Az ə Ril ə R آذریلر Or Az ə Rit ü rkl ə Ri, Persian: آذری ها Or آذربایجانی )It is the main ethnic group of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Mainly distributed in Azerbaijan and northwestern Iran, from the Caucasus to surrounding countries on the Iranian Plateau, such as Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, the Republic of Georgia, Armenia, Iran, Afghanistan, etc., there are also sporadic distributions. The vast majority of Azerbaijani people believe in the Shia sect of Islam, and their cultural traditions integrate many elements from neighboring countries such as Iran, Caucasus, and Turks, sports fitness   .
Despite being separated on both sides of the border since the signing of the Treaty of Gulistan in 1813 and the Treaty of Turkmenchai in 1828, Iran still ceded its northern territory from a single ethnic group in Azerbaijan to the Russian Empire. However, the evolution of the two centuries of separation resulted in differences between the north and south. The language of the Azerbaijani people is Azerbaijani, which is similar to the Turkic language family of Turkmen.

In the subsequent 18th and 19th century Tsarist Persian Wars, Persia's territory in the Caucasus was occupied by Tsarist Russia, and the signing of the Treaty of Gulistan in 1813 and the Treaty of Turkmenistan in 1828 ultimately divided the border between Russia and present-day Iran. The Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan established in 1918 is consistent with the territory of the current Republic of Azerbaijan. Due to living on both sides of the international border, the Azerbaijani ethnic group has formed a single ethnic group. Since Azerbaijan gained independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, they have regained their previous beliefs and cross-border ethnic barriers.

Azerbaijani people speak Azerbaijani language (sometimes referred to as Azerbaijani Turkic), which belongs to the Ugusic branch of the Turkic language family. The Ugusians entered Azerbaijan in the 11th and 12th centuries, while the Azerbaijanis gradually developed and eventually formed what they are today. At first, Ugusic was just an oral language, and during this period, Dede Korkut created epics and heroic stories. The period of oral language lasted for 200 years, and it was not until the 15th century that the first widely accepted Ugusic Turkic script appeared. Classical Azerbaijani literary works did not begin to be created until the Mongols invaded. These earliest works can be traced back to Nasimi and another poet, Fuzucic, several decades later; Poems by Licirc. There are also Azerbaijani poems written by IsmailI Shah of Safavid Persia under the pen name Khata'i.
