The Republic of the Congo (English: Republic of the Congo; French: R é publicque du Congo), abbreviated as Congo, is located in central and western Africa, with the equator crossing the central region. It is adjacent to the Democratic Republic of Congo and Angola to the east and south, Central Africa and Cameroon to the north, Gabon to the west, and the Atlantic Ocean to the southwest. The capital is Brazzaville, with a coastline of more than 150 kilometers and a total area of 342000 square kilometers. The Kingdom of Kongo was founded in the 13th and 14th centuries. Since the 15th century, it has been invaded by Portugal, Britain, and France. In 1884, it was designated as a French colony. It became a Autonomous republic in 1958. On August 15, 1960, it became fully independent and was named the Republic of Congo. In 1969, it was renamed the People's Republic of the Congo, and in 1991, it was renamed back to its current name.

The two pillars of the economy of the Republic of Congo are oil and timber. The Ocean Railway is the only railway in Congo and one of the earliest railways in Africa. In 2021, the gross domestic product of Congo (Brazzaville) was 10.2 billion US dollars, with a per capita gross domestic product of 1855 US dollars and an economic growth rate of -7.9%.
