The Independent State of Samoa, also known as Western Samoa, is located in the southern Pacific Ocean, in the western part of the Samoa Archipelago. It is composed of Upolu and Savaii main islands, as well as nearby Manono, Apolima, Nout é re, Noulua, Namua, Fanuatap, and Nousafie Eight small islands (Manono, Apolima, Nuutele, Nuulua, Namua, Fanutapu, Nuusafee, Nuulopa) are composed. The land area is 2934 square kilometers, and the marine exclusive economic zone covers an area of 120000 square kilometers. Most of the territory is covered in jungle. As of 2021, Samoa has a population of 205000.



Samoa is the center of the Polynesian archipelago and the place where Samoans have lived for generations. In 1250, an independent kingdom was established. In the mid-19th century, Germany, the United States, and Britain invaded one after another. In 1899, Britain transferred Western Samoa to Germany. Occupied by New Zealand during World War I. After World War II, it became a trust site. Independence on January 1, 1962. It is a member of the Commonwealth. In 1997, it was renamed as the Independent State of Samoa.



Samoa's economy is mainly agricultural, producing coconuts, cocoa, breadfruits, and bananas. Industry includes small-scale light industry and agricultural product processing industry. The tourism industry is also one of the main economic pillars of Samoa. The main economic data for 2022 are as follows: Gross Domestic Product: 830 million US dollars. Per capita GDP: $3743. Economic growth rate: -6%.
