The Republic of Senegal (La R é publique du S é n é gal), abbreviated as Senegal, is located at the westernmost point of the protruding region in western Africa, with its capital in Dakar. To the north is Mauritania, to the east is Mali, to the south is Guinea and Guinea-Bissau, and to the west is the Cape Verde Islands.
