Nama Peak, with an altitude of 5588 meters, is one of the Gonggawei peaks and is considered to be the easiest one among the peaks above 5500 meters in the Gongga region. The peak was climbed by the German couple Billy in late April 2001. On June 19, 2016, the legendary 149 mountaineering team went to the base camp of Mount Nama. After a short rest, at 9:22 a.m. on June 23, 16 people successfully climbed to the top of Nama Peak, which also created the highest number of people climbing the peak at the same time in the history of Nama Peak, sports fitness .
Introduction to the mountain
Located in Kangding County, Nama Peak is one of the guard peaks of Gongga Mountain, with an altitude of 5588 meters. It is a typical primary technical snow mountain. The top of the mountain is covered by a huge ancient ice cap. It is not difficult to climb, for ice crevices and snow slopes. In good weather, you can climb from the base camp at the end of the ice tongue in one day. The mountain scenery is excellent, and you can clearly see the whole northwest ridge and main peak of Gongga.
Climatic conditions
The region belongs to the temperate plateau climate, and the climate changes greatly. The rainy season is from June to October every year, and the dry season is from November to May next year.
The annual precipitation is 800-900 mm, mostly in July, August and September.
In summer, there is a large amount of clouds, and the daily temperature difference is also large. Sometimes the temperature can reach - 20 ℃ above the altitude of 6000 meters.
In the dry season, the weather is sunny and warmer than in other regions of the same latitude. The highest temperature of the year is in April and May.
Most mountaineering activities are conducted in the alternate period of dry season and rainy season.
Gongga Mountain is located in seven climatic zones from bottom to top: subtropical zone, warm temperate zone, cold temperate zone, sub-cold zone, cold zone, cold zone, and ice and snow zone.
