The Republic of Albania (English: Republic of Albania), referred to as "Albania", is located in the west of the Balkan Peninsula in Southeast Europe, bordering Montenegro, Serbia and Northern Macedonia in the north and northeast, Greece in the south, Adriatic Sea in the west, and Italy across the Strait of Otranto, covering an area of 28700 square kilometers. Within the territory, mountainous and hilly areas account for 77% of the total area, while plains account for 23%. The forest coverage rate is 36%, arable land area accounts for 24%, and pastures account for 15%. The coastline is 472 kilometers long. It has a subtropical Mediterranean climate. Albania is divided into 12 states, with 61 cities under its jurisdiction, and its capital is Tirana. As of January 2022, Albania has a population of 2.79 million, of which Albanian ethnicity accounts for 98%. The main ethnic minorities include Greek, Romanian, Macedonian, and Roma, sports fitness  .

In 1190, a feudal duchy was established. From 1415 onwards, it was ruled by the Ottoman Empire for nearly 500 years. Independence was declared on November 28, 1912. During World War I, it was occupied by the Austro Hungarian, Italian, and French armies. The Republic was established in 1925. In 1928, it changed to monarchy, and in April 1939, Italy invaded. During World War II, it was successively occupied by Italian and German fascists. On November 29, 1944, the country was liberated. The People's Republic of Albania was established on January 11, 1946, and was renamed the Socialist People's Republic of Albania in 1976. In 1991, the country was renamed the Republic of Albania.
