The Republic of Uruguay (Spanish: Rep ú blica Oriental del Uruguay; English: Oriental Republic of Uruguay, Uruguay), abbreviated as "Uruguay", is located in the southeast of South America, on the east bank of the Uruguay and La Plata rivers. It borders Brazil to the north, Argentina to the west, and the Atlantic Ocean to the southeast, with a land area of 176200 square kilometers.
